Since 1998 he is a staff member of the Department of Ophthalmology (Chairman: Prof. Ioannis Pallikaris) and in charge of the Cornea & Transplantation Unit. During the periods 1999-2003 and 2012-2013 he was also in charge of the Refractive Surgery Unit. He performed, for the first time in Greece, Limbal stem cell transplantation Surgery in an alkali corneal injury case (1997). Ever since with the evolution of new techniques including amniotic membrane transplantation the Cornea Service is a referral center for severe ocular surface disease cases.
